Guys, don’t give Portugal “Carriedo” as a last name. Or at all, just don’t add it.
Generally the rumours that Portuguese people hate the Spanish are untrue, but it you continuously do stuff like giving a Portuguese character a Spanish name, they WILL get annoyed at you.
If you want to headcanon them as being related, it’s best to use the name “Fernandes” (ending with an “s” and not a “z”) - for example-
In Spain the naming costums say the Father’s name comes first, while in Portugal it’s the Mother’s name. So if you make them brothers, (which is pretty popular fanom) it makes sense for Spain to have “Fernandez/s” as his first surname, and Portugal as his last.
That is just a possibility, but the point is just don’t use Carriedo.
Please consider as well that if a name ends in “z”, it’s most likely also Spanish. Please look into the correct Portuguese translation (usually it’s not too different, but ends with “s”).
Also, using two names as the surname (like Lisboa-Carriedo) with a hyphen is extremely rare, so if you want to go for a clearly Portuguese name, avoid that too.
